International Aquatics

In Week 4 our International students had an idyllic day at Port Noarlunga for their first aquatics lesson! They had an amazing experience with a mix of activities; snorkeling among the reefs, surfing the waves, and fishing from the jetty all sound like memorable adventures!

The vibrant turquoise water and pristine white sand must have made it even more special, especially when followed by hot chips and gravy for lunch!

BMX Balance Program

“It was another rad session with the crew from Hallett Cove School! They all bring such a good energy to the program and have done really well in these initial weeks with working within the ethos of the Balance Program.

We rode at Christies beach skate park today where everyone took on some individual challenges, some only wanting some tips / guidance and others wanting more support. A highlight was seeing one of the students drop into the quarter pipe after initially saying “I CANNOT do that and won’t”. He took the time to chill and listened to mentors tips and tricks then gave it a shot!

Another highlight was a student spending a great deal of the session in the bowl which is something he stated he did not think he could do” – Lighthouse Youth Projects Inc. Team

Year 12 Jumpers

In Week 5, our Year 12’s received their jumpers! A rite of passage for every senior, it was their first taste of the exciting things in store for them this year!

Student Leaders

Student Leaders across the High School were celebrated on in Week 5, as they were welcomed by school staff on their successful applications.

School Leadership presented with their badges, and celebrated a lunch whilst talking with students about the positive change they wanted to make at Hallett Cove School as part of their new role.

In 2025, students had the ability to become a Student Representative Council member, along with additionally a Student Ambassador of:

  • Arts
  • Technology
  • Sport and Health
  • Culture
  • Events
  • STEM

We look forward to working with our Student Leadership team to continue to improve Hallett Cove School, and its wider community to thrive under their leadership.

Global Gurus

The Global Gurus class kicked off this week with their personal presentations to our local students!

The classes are getting a fantastic opportunity to learn about Japanese culture, language, cities, games, origami, foods, and the daily life of students and families. Over the next few weeks, the Global Gurus will visit various classes, sharing all things Japanese.

Stay tuned for more exciting cultural exchanges and enriching experiences!

Clean Up Australia Day

Week 5 was a busy week as we celebrated Clean Up Australia Day!

Our students collected rubbish from their classrooms and around the yard in their Pastoral Care class and weighed it in to get a head start on House Points for next weeks Sports Day!

Started over 30 years ago, Clean Up Australia Day encourages us all to donate a little bit of our time cleaning up our communities. Whether it’s joining an organised Clean Up or just taking a glove and a bag on your next walk and picking up a few pieces of rubbish, every little helps to protect our environment.

Year 6 Camp

We finished off Week 5 with our Year 6 Camp!

The Junior School Seniors all headed off to Woodhouse for 3 days of amazing activities!

Everyone had so much fun getting messy and making memories that will no doubt last a lifetime!

International Fringe Day

In Week 6, our international students had the incredible experience of attending the Adelaide Fringe Kaurna Day 2025!

It was an opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture.

The day began with a smoking ceremony, and was filled with didgeridoo music, dance, and storytelling.

Located at University of Adelaide and UniSA, students wandered through community stalls, saw performances by First Nations artists from the Centre of Aboriginal Studies in Music, tried bush tucker, met Aussie animals, tried traditional games, and watched cultural workshops.

It was a day filled with learning, connection, and joy. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this beautiful and vibrant culture.

Sports Day

Sports Day 2025 was a big hit! With a ‘Day at the Beach’ theme the sun was shining and it was amazing to see so many of our students getting out and being active!

International Day of Maths
Last Friday we celebrated the International Day of Maths across R-12 with some fantastic activities with everything from creating intricate origami and fish octahedrons to tackling jigsaw puzzles and relaxing with mindful tessellation colouring.
Around the school, students tested their logic with maths problems written on the windows, sparking curiosity and conversation. Plus, Mrs. Davis took the Maths Wheel on tour during recess and lunch, challenging students to answer a Maths question for a sweet reward.
It was wonderful to see so many students getting involved, thinking critically, and having fun with Maths — both with and without the lure of a lolly! A huge thanks to everyone who participated and made the day such a success!

Sport

Year 9/10 Beach Volleyball

In Week 4 a squad of Year 9 and 10 students, making up 6 teams, travelled to Victor Harbor to compete in the School Sport SA Beach Volleyball Day Carnival

After a slow start on the sand the teams managed to each win half of their games!

Come and Try Golf Day
Last week a group of High School students attended a Come and Try golf day at The Vines Golf Club with Mr McWhinney and Mr Wade.
They had the amazing opportunity to learn the basics of golf from experienced professionals! The day was a fun and engaging introduction to golf, allowing the students to gain or improve their skills in the scenic surroundings of Reynella.
Phone Policy and Yondr Pouches

Thank you to all of our students and families for their support with implementing the South Australian Government ban on mobile phones in schools in 2023.

The use of Yondr pouches at Hallett Cove School made an immediate impact on phone use and students are happily engaging in learning, during class and at break times.

Your ongoing support with encouraging your child to follow our phone policy is appreciated.

Hallett Cove School aims to take advantage of the reach and instantaneous nature of social media to communicate with our families.

Social Media

We have long had a regularly updated Facebook page and last year we added Instagram to our media presence. Links to all our pages are included at the bottom of this page.

Along with our main page, we have also created two additional Facebook pages for particular audience members of our community:

  • Hallett Cove Career Pathways: To keep parents and students informed of career information and opportunities through Hallett Cove School.
  • Hallett Cove School Community Announcements: To keep parents, students and the wider community informed about education sessions and educational opportunities, to raise public awareness around the current trends in society and provide information about upcoming events and opportunities.
  • Kiss and Drop Areas

When dropping off/picking up your child(ren), please remember that the middle lane (Gledsdale Road Kiss and Drop) and right lane (Sanderson Road Kiss and Drop) should not be used as a waiting/parking lane.

Local councils are often out and about at schools ensuring the community use these spaces safely.

Parents and Friends

Hallett Cove School values the contribution of our community and we encourage any of our parents and friend to consider joining the Parents and Friends Group (P&F) in 2024.

The P&F support key functions in the school. Recently, our P&F have held a Sports Day stall, Harmony Day stall, Fun Run and parents are assisting in managing our Street Libraries (outside the Vegetable Garden and Early Years Centre).

Please email info@hcs.sa.edu.au if you are interested in joining P&F and the school will put you in contact with our P&F representative and our Volunteer Coordinator.
