Welcome back to Hallett Cove School for Term 2! We hope everyone had a relaxing break and enjoyed the nice weather…as it seems to have dissapeared already!

Every week we’re going to be posting a run down of the week that has been and a sneak peak of the week to come!

It’s been a relatively quiet start to the term in HCS terms with everyone easing into the cooler weather.

While all our students were at home on Monday, enjoying an extra day of holidays, our teaching staff and curiculum SSO’s were busy in Berry Street Education Model training. The session was centrered around stamina and how teachers can can create a culture of academic persistance while nurturing student resiliance and emotional intelligence. It provided our teachers with plenty of tools and strategies to motivate students and increase their willingness to learn.

Our clubs were also back up and running this week and with plenty on offer, there’s something for everyone! It’s a great way to keep busy during the rainy lunchtimes, that, no doubt, there will be plenty more of soon! Students can talk to their teachers about what clubs are available in Term 2.

Our Middle School Maths Tutoring Program is also back up and running this week. Held on Wednesday afternoons, 3:10 – 4:10pm, it provides an opportunity for younger students to receive one-to-one guidance from older students who have excelled in their mathematics studies.

Speaking of maths, a small group of Year 7 and 8 students have chosen to participate in the Australasian Problem Solving and Mathematical Olympiads competition. There will be four sessions spread over the next few months and we are all eager to watch them succeed!

Finally this week, we recognised one of our Year 7 students, Gemma Melville, who has been selected to play in the 2023 School Sports SA 12 Years and Under Girls Cricket Team. The team will be competeing against other Australian states in the School Sports Championship in Darwin in June.
We wish her the absolute best of luck!

Next week the Junior School is getting ready for Mother’s Day with a stall run by our Parent & Friends Committee. Please see our Facebook or SeeSaw posts for more information.

Also next week we will be hosting another round of Volleyball and Soccer Program trials for all 2024 Year 7 students for any students that might have missed the last round. Please see our Facebook ost for more information.

Finally, each week we’re going to be profiling a HCS staff member to let you get to know us a little better. This week I decided I better introduce myself:
