This week our Junior School students were visited by the RAA for their Street Smart Primary lesson. The interactive presentation focussed road safety and our students learnt all about pedestrian, passenger and wheeled safety around our roads.

Our Peer Mediation Program has also been up and running this week with our volunteer students who have been trained in problem-solving, conflict resolution, communication and active listening out and about at recess and lunch.

Through their training peer mediators learn that conflict can be resolved constructively, can have been assisting and encouraging peers to move from blaming each other to devising solutions acceptable to all involved.

As part of our celebrations for Reconciliation Week, our Junior School students learnt all about First Nations artwork, symbols and their meanings and then were each given a boomerang to decorate and tell a story with.

Over in the High school for Reconciliation Week, they were visited by Kaurna man Anthony Wilson where he talked about connection to land, family dynamics and all the cultural aspects of Aboriginal families and communities.

On Thursday our Year 7’s headed out on an overnight trip to AFL Max. The camp focussed on leadership and the students had a jam-packed day using the climbing walls, trampolines, inflatable obstacle course and interactive screen. Head over to our social to see more pics from this energetic camp!

Finally our Year 12 PE class had fantastic weather for their 3 days of sailing and windsurfing down at West Lakes.

Next week we have our Year 10 Deep Creek camp, our Year 12’s are off to sample Uni life in the city and we have our Year 9/10 girls and boys soccer to round off the week.
