Stage 2 Modern History

ASSUMED BACKGROUND: Successful Completion of Stage 1 HASS subject/s and Stage 1 English

CONTENT
Course will cover a selection of the following:

Modern Nations: Students study one of the following topics: Australia, United States of America, Germany), The Soviet Union and Russia, Indonesia or China, looking at the major movements and events that impacted the nation and the nation within a global context.

The World since 1945: 

Students investigate the developments in the modern world since 1946 with a focus on a specific world region or conflict/issue. The focus will be selected from the following topics: The changing world order, Australia’s relationship with Asia and the South Pacific Region , National self-determination in South-East Asia, the struggle for peace in the Middle East, Challenges to peace and security or The United Nations and establishment of a global perspective.

ASSESSMENT TYPES

Historical Skills

Students will complete a range of tasks displaying their Historical knowledge and skills. These tasks can include a collection of essays, source analysis, presentations, and case studies

Historical Study

Students will complete an inquiry based investigation into a topic of their choosing. Students will identify a historical issue, person or topic from 1750 to modern times to conduct a research inquiry into. 

Externally Assessed: Electronic Examination (30%)
