CONTENT
This curriculum provides a foundation for Year 7 students to embark on an exciting journey of language acquisition and cultural understanding. Through engaging and interactive learning experiences, students will develop essential Auslan communication skills, fostering intercultural competence and empathy. By exploring the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the Deaf community, students will gain a deeper appreciation for diversity and inclusivity.

This curriculum is designed to equip students with the tools to confidently engage in Auslan conversations, build relationships, and participate actively in Deaf culture.

ASSESSMENT TYPES

School Assessed:

Visual Text Production:
Students create posters , powerpoints , slideshows and brochures to display knowledge and understanding for language and cultural learning.

Written Text Production:
Students produce a body of written work using a myriad of genre incorporating the four writing systems to create text types about self, family and friends.

Vocabulary and Language Tests:
Students create small scripts and present using multi modal resources to support their language development. They use classroom specific language to ask questions and respond to questions asked. They learn specific vocabulary to support thetopics being covered.
